The lock Gods were with us today!

September 1&2

We left Sens bright and early in order to make the 8 am lock opening. We gave the lock keeper a Canada magnet, a keychain and a USA/France pin.....all in an effort to bribe him. We made sure he knew where we were headed and in our best french asked if he would phone ahead to the other lock keepers. Well, it worked like a charm. At every lock we got to they were open and ready. We even arrived at one at 12:29 and we were let through! Hello, does this man know that he lives in France and lunch time is sacrosanct.

Pont-sur-Yvonne
A chance to practice your french.

The Seine and the Yonne meet.

In the lock with the big boys! Lots of barge traffic on the Seine.

We had eight locks to do and we knew there would be barge traffic, it went like clockwork all day. We made our destination in record time and managed to make three boats fit in a tiny little space. The good news is that we have power and water, the bad news of the day was that Fountainbleau is closed on Tuesdays. So we have stayed here three days. Not a bad place to be staying. Moret Sur Loing is a small village and famous for two things - Sisley ,the impressionist painter and the production of barely sugar.

The baby swans are sooo cute they were around while we were docking.

Some shots of the village.

As you can see it is a beautiful little village. Today we left here via bus and spent the day at Fountainbleau - the hunting Chateau of the French Royals - as opposed to the Royals we are travelling with!
I will upload some pics of the opulence next time we get wifi!

As Evelyn says - It's all good, and as Frank says - Life is good and boating is fun!
