Sancerre to Couis sur Loire

September 11

Trois bateaux  pulled out of the Saint-Satur and headed south once again.

Sancerre
It is somewhat difficult to take pictures now as the sun is shiny right at us. (not complaining) We have been pretty lucky with the weather, a little chilly at night which is great for sleeping and a nice comfortable temperature during the day.
Our destination today was Marseilles-les-Aubigny . This is what one lock keeper does to keep busy between boats:

Tools of the trade

The end products:

Frank lost his hat while putting down their bimini and thanks to Garths expertise in boat handling and George on the boat hook it was retrieved .....funny thing though I have not seen the hat on Franks head since.  These canals are not exactly what you would call clean!

The Once Around hat is safe!
Some pics of our travels:

Friends of friends!

Todays Woops!

Nice little place on the hill.

The last two locks of the day were run by the same man, Mousier Miserable. He was not a happy camper, as a matter of fact he wins the MMLKA - Most Miserabel Lock Keepers Award. I went to take his picture and he gave me the finger wave as in - no no no - perhaps he is in the witness protection program.

Mousier Miserable - I got you anyhow!

Garth taking it all in stride!

Mousier Miserable started yelling at us when HE let the water out too fast and the boat swayed a little!  At the second lock he was just as nasty, needless to say he did not get any chocolate from us or a pin from the Clipper Two! We were staying just above his lock and even though it was a little windy we all managed to dock. Evelyn noticed that the lock keeper had ridden his bike up to see where we went and his "mother" had walked by with her dog. Doug and Garth went to check out the capitaineries office and came back and said we were leaving. It just was not a very nice place and the three stores that we could see where closed.

We are so outta here.
Off we went and we ended up in Couis sur Loire, a lovely little village with a patisserie and a restaurant.  The patisserie gets the Best Almond Croissant award for the trip!

Couis sur Loire
The best!

You need to drive 20 km per hour and then your car will fall off the road into the canal and .......
