Paris!

I love it when a plan works ! We rendezvoused with Terri and George at Starbucks terminal D, walked outside, saw a man carrying a sign with my name on it and jumped in his van. Within minutes we were heading to 27 Rue de Bourg Tibourg. Well, the whole plan did not quite work as planned. We arrived a little early to the apartment, like the homeless, we piled our belongings on the sidewalk and George stood guard while the rest of us went to the patisserie! The housekeeper showed up and discovered that the elevator - I use that term loosely - was not working. In France the floor you are on is always one more than in North American - so the apartment is on the 4th floor in France but if it were home it would be the fifth floor. My point is that we had to carry all our luggage up five floors - not so bad for Garth and I as we had just flown from Vienna but Terri and George had basically been up all night!  None of us were too pleased but if you look at it that your reward at the top was a pain o chocolate then ....

We settled in and went for a walk over to Notre Dame then crossed back over the Seine to Les Halles and Place des Vosges .We bought a three day pass on the hop on hop off bus and have been using that along with the metro to get around.

So in no particular order here is a glimpse of the Paris we have been seeing in between rain storms!

Say no more!

Notre Dame -Rose Window

PARIS PLAGE: Sun, sand and the Seine.

We have noticed a huge police presence this year. They travel in packs and have some pretty serious gear!

Place de la Concorde

The Seine

Arc de Triomphe

Les Invalides

Pont Alexandre lll bridge

Just one of the many statues on the Grand Palais

Nice set of doors!

Kids are the same all over the world. As we were getting on the funicular going up to Sacre Coeur these kids had the biggest bubbles I have ever seen!

George trying to blend in with a Chinese tour group!

Someone did not listen or read - No pictures!!
Do you think the rain is coming! A stunning view from the top.

We huddled in a church doorway and watched the umbrellas being blown inside out!

We went back to the apartment and had a rest before heading out for our night tour of Paris.
