Chateau Chambord, Chateau Amboise

Saturday August 16th

This time it really paid off. We pre-purchased our tickets and arrived early. We were first in the door and had the chateau pretty much to ourselves for the first fifteen minutes. The first tour bus did not arrive for at least 40 minutes so we accomplished what we set out to do ~ beat the hordes!

Chambord sits in the middle of a 5440 hectare park and is enclosed by a 32 kilometer wall. It is the epitome of French Renaissance.

We called this the hangover room!

Double staircase in background and huge ceramic stove.

The Chapel

It was a hunting chateau after all!

Seriously over the top!

The Salamander "I nourish the good and extinguish the bad"

Talk about a fireplace!

People waited to watch Francois get out of bed and the person with the highest status helped dress him!

I have never seen a field full of such humungus sunflowers!

Chateau Jallanges
Just another chateau along the way!
